As one myself, and a girl that lived in Tulum for many months, I can attest to that. Most of the best Tulum restaurants have gluten free options, vegan options, and there are some great spots that are completely gluten free and vegan.
If you're traveling to Mexico, you better plan to have a taco or two… or a few every day! I was surprised to find that in Tulum, most tacos are actually made from corn (maíz) flour and not wheat flour. While it's common and almost always an option, always confirm what the tortillas are made of with your waiter if you have a gluten intolerance.
Gluten-free, vegan-friendly plates are easy to find across Tulum's best restaurants.
Best Restaurants in Tulum, Mexico
the real coconut — sanara hotel, hotel zone
Everything at the Real Coconut is 100% free of dairy, grain, gluten, soy, and corn. This is one of the best restaurants in Tulum for vegetarians and gluten-free restaurants for anyone with celiac disease. RC is not 100% vegan; you can order meals with chicken, fish, and meat. However, if you are vegan, this place has many options and amazing dairy-free coconut cheese and sauces. They have a huge menu of juices and smoothies and many varied breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. If you go for dinner, do not skip ordering their skillet cookie. It is amazing. It's huge and can easily be shared among two or more people, but no one will judge if you have a whole one to yourself.

raw love — centro & ahau hotel
Raw Love has two locations - one in town on the main strip and one on the beach at Ahau Hotel. The Tulum restaurant beach at Ahau has a hut on for smoothies, smoothie bowls, juices, etc., and then if you walk one minute from the hut on the beach through the Ahau property you will find the Raw Love restaurant. At the restaurant, they serve up fully raw/gluten free/vegan dishes and desserts. The Raw Pad Thai is definitely one of my favorites.
the pitted date — aldea zama
If you are living in Aldea Zama, town, or La Valeta, this is a great breakfast/lunch spot. The Pitted Date is a vegan restaurant, and most of their dishes are gluten-free, including their pancakes, waffles, and crepes.
matcha mama — aldea zama & hotel zone
Since 2017, Matcha Mama has been among the Tulum restaurants on the beach serving up smoothies and smoothie bowls. Everything on their menu is vegan and gluten free. They have two locations in Tulum: Aldea Zama and the Hotel Zone.
italdo pasteleria — la valeta
Italdo Pasteleria is a gem, located in La Valeta. While most of their menu is pizza, pastries, sandwiches, etc. they have a gluten free dough option for any pizza on their menu.
burrito amor — centro
Burrito Amor is the best restaurant in downtown Tulum that you should make it to for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. As you can imagine from the name, most of their menu is burritos - breakfast burritos with egg and then regular burritos. Their homemade coconut tortillas are an option if you have a gluten intolerance. In addition to GF burritos, they have GF avocado toast, GF chilaquiles, chia pudding, etc.
Tulum has no shortage of great restaurants and gluten free or vegan options.
